How Private Peck Put Down the Rebellion 1887

How Private Peck Put Down the Rebellion was first published by Belford, Clarke and Company in 1887. It was reprinted by this firm in 1889 and 1890. The first edition was published in cloth and in wraps. All editions are 316 pages and are illustrated by True Williams.

The story details Private Peck's misadventures in the Civil War. Although there is some truth to the episodes chronicled in this book, the events are infused with humor.

This title was published by a number of companies.
Belford, Clarke and Company, Chicago 1887-1890
Donohue, Henneberry Company, Chicago 1890
Morrill, Higgins and Company, Chicago 1892
W. B. Conkey and Company, Chicago 1893-1905
Homewood Publishing Company, Chicago 1902-1905

How Private Peck Put Down the rebellion also was published with Peck's Boss Book as a combination book.

Publishers of the combination book:
W. B. Conkey Company
Homewood Publishing Company
Thompson and Thomas
Charles C. Thompson Company

Since Homewood reprinted Conkey books, it is presumed that the Homewood and Conkey formats are the same. These books only have 96 pages of Peck's Boss Book. The combination book from Thompson and Thomas has 172 pages of Peck's Boss Book. The Charles C. Thompson Company has the first 96 pages of Peck's Boss Book.
