Peck's Boss Book

Butler Brothers published a multivolume paperback series, the Electric Series, which had more than 500 titles.

Eight books were part of this series:
#1 The Bad Boy at Home
#2 A Bad Boy Abroad
#89 Peck's Bad Boy and His Pa
#90 Peck's Bad Boy, No. 2
#91 Peck's Sunshine
#92 Peck's Fun
#93 Peck's Boss Book
#94 Peck's Compendium of Fun

This series was published in the 1889-1890 time frame. During its run the Electric Series used more than one numbering system. Peck's Boss Book has been seen as #139 in alternative numbering for this series.

Butler Brothers was founded as a small "department" store by George and Edward Butler. A year later a third brother, Charles, joined the firm. They are known for their innovation of the five cents counter which they originated in 1878. It incorporated as Butler Brothers in 1887. The Brothers began in New York and eventually spread to Chicago, St. Louis. Dallas, and Minneapolis.

The Butler Brothers are another example of a retail store that sold a typical publisher's series on their own imprint but most likely did not do the printing.
