1890 Campaign Pin

When George W. Peck ran for governor of Wisconsin in 1890, an important part of his platform was his opposition to the Bennett Law. The Bennett Law proclaimed that all students be taught in English even if their native language was something else. This law mainly was opposed by the native Germans.

Peck’s motto of “Peck and All the Schools” emphasized his opposition to the Bennett Law. Peck won the election and was instrumental in overturning this law.

This little 1″ x 1″ campaign pin notes the election motto.
